Located on the junction of Sandy Lane and Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton, Orlando's is the brainchild of clubland 'Godfather' Rupert (Orlando) Campbell, one half of the duo who set up Sankeys Soap at Beehive Mill in the early 1990s. It was musician Campbell together with his then business partner who masterminded the nightlife hub that remains so integral to the city’s music and clubbing scene. Now he's back with a different type of venture – something just as cool but slightly quieter, and more family-orientated. "I'm sure that the residents of Chorlton do not want just another bar," he says. "This isn’t just another bar. It's very much focused on the food. The occasional evening entertainment will be comedy interspersed with acoustic music." Orlando's is set to be truly unique – combing the vibe of a lamps-on-tables comedy club with a relaxed jazz café in the evenings, while during the day it will provide something Campbell believes Chorlton is lacking: a good value, family-friendly eaterie.
